About Isuzu: Isuzu markets the Isuzu Ascender sport utility vehicle and Isuzu i-Series pickup trucks in North America. Both trucks are rebadged versions of General Motors products (the GMC Envoy and GMC Canyon). Isuzu first came to prominence in the North American market with the Isuzu Rodeo and Isuzu Trooper. Both were very successful sport utility vehicles that helped establish the popularity of SUVs in America.

Effective January 31, 2009, Isuzu will no longer offer passenger vehicles in North America. Isuzu will continue to offer commercial trucks. Isuzu's low cab forward trucks are consistent best sellers year after year. Isuzu's commercial truck products include the Isuzu N-Series, Isuzu F-Series and Isuzu H-Series.

    Isuzu Leaves North America

On January 30, 2008, Isuzu Motors America, Inc., announced it would discontinue selling new Isuzu passenger vehicles in North America effective January 31, 2009. Isuzu has not had a new or unique product for several years. The company has relied on General Motors to manufacture rebadged versions of the GMC Envoy sport utility vehicle and the GMC Canyon light pickup truck. Isuzu rebadges the vehicles as the Isuzu Ascender SUV and Isuzu i-Series truck, respectively. General Motors made the decision to replace the GMC Envoy series and the GMC Canyon series vehicles with replacements that will not be able to be rebadged as Isuzu vehicles. This leaves Isuzu with no products for North America.

Isuzu has stated that Isuzu dealerships will be given the option to become service dealers for Isuzu. This means all warranties, roadside assistance programs and the owner-relations call center will remain fully functional.
