Dodge's full-line range is quite broad. The company produces the high-performance Dodge Viper sports car, the Dodge Magnum wagon, a complete series of light- and medium-duty Dodge Ram pickup trucks, the light-duty Dodge Dakota pickup truck, the Dodge Durango sport utility vehicle and a variety of other commercial and consumer vehicles. The company recently unveiled the 2008 Dodge Challenger at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show. The Challenger is a throwback to the height of the muscle car era of the early 1970's and reflects the current trend in retro-themed styling.

    Dodge's History

The Dodge Brothers, John Francis Dodge and Horace Elgin Dodge, originally operated the Dodge Brothers Bicycle & Machine Factory where they manufacture bearings and other machined parts for other automakers. In 1914, the Dodge Brothers started the Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicle Company that produced mid-range vehicles. Three years later in 1917 the Dodge Brothers started building trucks for the U.S. Army. In 1925, the Dodge Brothers sold their company to Dillon, Read & Company (a banking firm) for $146 million, the largest cash acquisition in history at the time. The Dillon, Read & Company sold Dodge just three years later in 1928 to Chrysler, where the brand remains to this day.
