Used Oldsmobile

Oldsmobile was a near-luxury brand belonging to the General Motors portfolio from 1908 until 2004. The automaker was phased out of existence by the domestic car company after slowing sales indicated that its time had come and gone in the market. As a result, used Oldsmobile prices are often quite inexpensive when compared to Buick or Lincoln vehicles, despite their competitive features and designs.

Oldsmobile’s lineup after the year 2000 was fairly varied, with a minivan, several sedans, a coupe and even an SUV available. Buyers of full-size used cars would do well to investigate the Oldsmobile Aurora, a V-8 powered luxury car that was near the top of its game when it came to power and handling. The Alero was a stylish and compact two-door that could also be ordered in sedan form, while the Intrigue straddled the line between entry-level luxury and above-average performance. The Bravada SUV and the Silhouette minivan were limited production, badge-engineered editions of other GM products available at the time. Oldsmobile-specific parts are becoming more difficult to locate as time goes on, but many models shared their mechanical components with Chevrolet and Buick vehicles, making them a bit easier to service.

Popular Used Oldsmobile Cars

Oldsmobile’s final lineup offered a few interesting options for secondhand shoppers; below, we’ll briefly examine three of the most popular used Oldsmobile cars.

Used Oldsmobile Alero – With an attractive wedge shape and an available V-6 engine, the Alero provided a significant upgrade over other small entry-level cars sold by GM during the same era. The Alero coupe is an especially rare but pleasant to drive used Oldsmobile.

Used Oldsmobile Aurora – The most storied of recent Oldsmobiles, the Aurora V8 model was provided with an advanced DOHC engine that produced 250 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Handling was surprisingly nimble for such a large, front-wheel drive car, and its performance remains fairly competitive with modern vehicles in its class.

Used Oldsmobile Intrigue – The Intrigue provides a 215 horsepower V-6 to go with its high level of interior equipment that rivals Honda and Toyota sedans of similar vintage. Pricing on a used Oldsmobile Intrigue is far lower than its Japanese competition, however.

The Bottom Line On Used Oldsmobile Cars

The Oldsmobile brand is slowly fading into the mists of time, but savvy secondhand shoppers can score serious deals on some comfortable and attractively styled used Oldsmobile models still floating around the used car market.
