Some of the vehicles will have high insurance costs and others will be low. All of these costs fall under operating costs need to be considered when looking at what is the best vehicle for the money. Another big issue given our current times is the fuel economy of the vehicle. Can you afford to buy the vehicle AND drive it?
When looking at used Chevrolet vehicles, there are three that are always at a reasonable price to own and operate. The used car market means that prices will vary but as a whole, these three vehicles, the Chevrolet Aveo, the Chevrolet Cobalt, and the Chevrolet Colorado will be your lowest mileage and the least expensive options.
The Chevrolet Aveo is a compact car. The Chevrolet Cobalt is a subcompact car and the Colorado is an extended cab pickup – blowing away the assumption that all trucks cost more to own and even more to run.
2005 - 2009 Chevrolet Aveo
The Chevrolet Aveo is a strong selling compact sedan and has been around raising eyebrows since 2004. As a used car, this is going to be reliable, functional transportation at a very reasonable cost. It already sells well in the used car industry.
This car was the original replacement for the Chevrolet Metro. It not only replaced the Metro, it drove sales of Chevy’s subcompact cars right to the top of the competition. This vehicle is a winner, new or used.
When looking at the Aveo don’t be confused by the generation. The earlier models were called the T200 and this second generation is called the T250 model. It can be found as a four door sedan and a five door hatchback wagon. With the release of the second generation, a third body style was added along with five engine configurations. Although some minor changes were made on the Aveo over the four years, the main one was completed in 2007 when the vehicle was totally redesigned. Several new features were added in, new color choices were offered, the interior was revamped changing location of various instruments and new trim added. Chevrolet increased the driving comfort with a manual lumbar adjuster on the seat and added in an armrest for the driver as well.
Being a subcompact car means that the cargo area is generous for its size but it can’t compete against larger vehicles. What it lacks in size it makes up for in fuel economy. The Aveo has a 1.6L DOHC inline four cylinder engine with a five speed manual transmission. This smaller engine still has loads of get-up-and-go for the small car and even better – it saves on fuel economy. The EPA rating for this vehicle is 26 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.

These engines really make the owners smile when they drive up the pumps. The Cobalt has an EPA rating of 22 miles per gallon in the city and 32 miles per gallon on the highway.

They have really produced a vehicle that allows there to be something for everyone. Something for everyone means more sales and happier customers.
