Certified Pre Owned Programs

Volvo doesn’t let just any used Volvo join its certified used vehicle program. Both the mileage and the age are limited. Only vehicles five years or younger are allowed in and the mileage on the odometer must be less than 80,000 miles. The third requirement for entrance is condition – the vehicle must in excellent condition both visually and mechanically. When a vehicle is accepted into Volvo’s program, it is then run through a series of tests to make sure the vehicle is up to Volvo’s standards.

Comprehensive Used Vehicle Inspection Process

As a leader in the automobile industry, Volvo expects to keep up its reputation through its certified pre-owned vehicle program. This means everything – and Volvo means everything – needs to be in top working order.
Volvo designed a 130-point inspection that set the standard for the industry. Not only is the vehicle checked over, repaired as required and refurbished as needed, but Volvo also services the vehicle so that the maintenance schedule is up to date and ready to go.

When the inspection process is completed, a copy of the report is given to the new owner of the vehicle and a second copy stays with the retailer. Don’t worry about not being able to understand the form; Volvo takes pride in its easy to understand inspection sheet.

Part of the inspection process includes a CARFAX Vehicle History Report, which is backed by the CARFAX Buyback Guarantee. The vehicle history report is run to ensure that the title is clean, the odometer reading is correct and that the vehicle hasn’t been in a major accident, flood or fire. If the vehicle is found to have a severe title issue reported by a DVM later, then CARFAX will buy the vehicle back from you under the terms of its guarantee.

Volvo's Used Car Warranty Program

The coverage for a Volvo certified pre-owned vehicle warranty offers extensive coverage. All vehicles that are entered into the CPO program receive a limited warranty of up to 6 years / 100,000 miles, depending on which comes first. Included is the remaining time or mileage of what was left on the original new vehicle warranty. Extra coverage can be purchased that extends the warranty to 7 years / 100,000 or 8 years / 100,000.

Another nice feature of the Volvo CPO warranty is that there is no deductible. Any time your vehicle is in the shop getting warranty-covered repairs done, it won’t cost you a penny.

Volvo On Call Roadside Assistance Service

Volvo offers a comprehensive roadside assistance service for all owners of Volvo certified pre-owned vehicles. The same program, called Volvo On Call, covers owners of both new and certified used vehicles. The program runs for the duration of the certified pre-owned warranty.

• Free emergency roadside and towing service in the event of a total vehicle breakdown
• The program runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 12 months of the year
• Trip routing map services are available to plan or reroute your trip as required
• $5,000 car theft protection award
• Discounted car rental rates if you should need to rent a vehicle
• Trip interruption benefits in the event of a vehicle breakdown that happens more than 150 miles away from your home.

Special Financing for Volvo CPO Cars

Like many of the automakers on the market today, Volvo offers special financing, and sometimes rebates and incentives for the purchase of a certified pre-owned Volvo. Volkswagen has put together a certified used vehicle program of its own that follows their philosophy, which is why their program is called Certified Pre-Loved Volkswagens. To be eligible for the Pre-Loved program, Volkswagen will only consider used Volkswagens that are younger than five years and that have been driven less than 75,000 miles. Before being accepted into the program, every vehicle undergoes specific testing and a vehicle history check.

Being an owner of a Certified Pre-Loved Volkswagen also means complimentary enrollment in to the VW club. This puts you in touch with other Volkswagen owners and events, plus you will receive a complimentary newsletter.

Vehicle History Check

Volkswagen has a CARFAX vehicle history report run on every vehicle being considered for their Pre-Loved program. This report can disclose such information as:

• Information on the title of the vehicle
• History of flood damage
• Accident history
• Odometer readings
• Lemon history – if applicable
• How many owners there have been
• Airbag deployments
• State emissions inspection results – if tested
• If there are maintenance or service records
• If the vehicle was used as a lease, rental or as a taxi

Pre-Loved 112 Point Inspection

Volkswagen runs every vehicle through a 112 point inspection check. As part of this inspection, trained Volkswagen technicians thoroughly check out the interior, the exterior, the mechanics, the accessories, the cooling/heating system, tires, engine transmission and much more.

2-Year / 24,000-Mile Warranty Coverage

First, if there is a remaining balance left on the original vehicle warranty when it was purchased new, the balance continues to be in effect when the vehicle is sold as a Certified Pre-Loved Volkswagen. When the original warranty is over, Volkswagen adds a comprehensive 2-year /24,000-mile limited warranty to cover you for the next couple of years. This covers the vehicle from the front to the back for any repairs required due to defect in materials or workmanship if the fault lies outside of regular wear and tear.

Roadside Assistance

Volkswagen also offers a full around the clock roadside assistance program. This plan is managed through Cross Country Automotive Services, Inc. The program runs for two full years after you have purchased your Certified Pre-Loved Volkswagen and has no mileage restriction. Some of the services provided include:

• Jump start – in the event that you end up with a dead battery, roadside assistance will come and give your vehicle a boost.
• Fuel delivery – in the unhappy event that you run out of gas, a fuel delivery will be made to get you back on the road.
• Lockout service - if you lock your keys in the vehicle, roadside assistance will help to get you back inside.
• Tire change – if you end up with a flat tire and have a good spare, then roadside assistance will come and change the tire for you.
• Towing service – in the event of a full break down, roadside assistance will come and tow you to the nearest Volkswagen dealership.
• Winching service – occasionally on bad roads people get stuck. If this happens to you, roadside assistance will come and help get your back on your way.
