Originally, the Jeep brand was formed in the wake of World War II and has been a division of Chrysler since in 1987. The Jeep Wrangler continues to carry on design cues introduced in early military Jeeps. Recent additions to the Jeep lineup have swelled the company's portfolio to seven distinct offering. The car-based fraternal twins, Compass and Patriot, help Jeep to improve its overall fuel economy averages, while attracting new customers not necessarily looking for an off-road experience. The Patriot, Liberty, Grand Cherokee, Commander and Wrangler are all Trail Rated, passing the Jeep rigorous off-road skills test.
