Although the first Isuzu ever imported into the United States was the 1972 Chevrolet LUV pickup, the Isuzu nameplate was introduced in 1981. General Motors' Geo brand and Honda both used rebadged Isuzu vehicles throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Originally, Isuzu offered a line of small cars and pickup trucks throughout the 1980s. As the SUV market began to intensify, Isuzu switched to an all-truck lineup in 1993. Isuzu has always succeeded in the commercial truck industry but passenger car sales never really took off. In recent years, Isuzu has maintained a two-vehicle lineup that were little more than rebadged Chevrolet and GMC vehicles.
