    kia amanti glitches

Bought a new amanti in 05 and motor blew up at 35k. Liked the car and thought it was just an anomoly so after warranty work done traded it in for an 06 and now transmission is acting up with only 11k. Beginning to wonder about these cars. Also wonder if any other Amanti owners  have had their sun roof mysteriously shatter. Was driving down the road and sunroof just shattered for no apparent reason. Dealer claimed it must have been hit by something so replaced via insurance claim. Only know one other guy with same car and lo and behold same thing happened to him. When I first drove the car I noticed how noisy it was with wind noise but thought nothing of it until new sunroof glass installed and then noticed it was way quieter. I think the original glass was installed in frame under too much torsion and glass eventually blew. Friends experience lends credence to my theory.

    Re: kia amanti glitches

Your experience seems to be somewhat strange to me, I have discussed this with other techs in my field and have only one conclusion. that an 05 amanti with 35k on it that blows the engine was seriously neglected and abused, meaning that the oil was not religiously changed at every 3,000 mile intervals. I have worked on dozens of these vehicles and have seen the worst but I have only had to change one engine and it was because a jiffy lube place forgot to tighten the oil drain plug. some people think that the dealer will not notice that the car was neglected when the car breaks down, trust me we know. Some customers will even go through the trouble of making fake receipts for oil changes .as for the sunroof problem it is almost impossible for the glass to break, this particular sunroof does not have a solid frame around it and is only secured on both left and right sides by four small fastening bolts, so as for it being under stress and for it to break on its own is absolutely absurd. just admit that negligence on your part is to blame, don't go shooting down a nice car simply because you don't want to take responsibility. Read the owners manual it has a maintenance schedule on it for your reference, your car has a warranty not a guarantee on it. start changing your oil dude.
