HELP WITH AIR FLOW CONTROL

When I turn on the heat / air conditioning the air flows out of all the vents no matter what setting I have it set on. If I have it on the windshield or the vents it still blows out of all of them. It blows the most on the floors. It doesn't do anything when I change it. Any idea what it would be?

I had a similar problem with my 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix. It was some kind of sensor but I don't remember which one right now. I hope this helps a bit.
