I'm new to this site, but felt it important to tell of my recent car buying experience from VANDERGRIFF TOYOTA in Arlington TX. It was not a pleasant one, even though buying a new Toyota is something I always look forward to. This one started off fine and went south fast. After my son (who was really the one buying the car) decided on a new 4runner, we made a good (not great) deal on an 08 v6 4x4 SR5. We left the dealer with 100% financed $28,230 OTD on an unused new (55 mi) vehical. Later that day, as he was showing the car to friends and family he noticed some dents in the hood. After further exam, it was undeniable that there was 50-100 hail dents in the roof, hood and fenders. There had never been a word uttered by the salesman, sales manager or finance guy about any prior damage...no damage waiver...NO DISCLOSURE of any kind. When we took the vehical back the next day, the sales manager refused to acknowlege their unlawful actions and only agreed to perform 'paintless' repair which would not completely eliminate the dings. We finally, after giving them back the car and starting over, gave up and returned to the dealership. The repairs would have taken too much time and so we agreed to a $500 credit...less than their cost for the 'paintless' repairs.
I had never experienced such lack of customer concern from any dealership, let alone a large, 'reputable' one like VANDERGRIFF. My son isn't as put out by their actions as I am, but that's to be expected from a 26 yo in first buying experience. As for me, I have never posted on this subject before and never expect to again, since, although that was the 2nd car bought from VANDERGRIFF, it was my last.
