I replaced the altenator only because the bearings were shot,, it was working otherwise..The new one lasted a week,,partsman said I have a short,,and his alternators not to blame,,he gave me another one..after installation there was a fat spark when I conected the battery..So I figured I really do have a short,, well the only short I can find was traced to the alt.. this terminal is hot at all times and I beleive it feeds the field( A terminal),,the company that rebuilds the unit says this is normal,,that just because a testlight or ohm meter will light or pass current doesn't mean its a short..now how on Gods green earth is that possible???
