I'm looking for parts and advice.  Both front seats fail to travel up and down.  They are at the lowest position right now.  We got a price of $1300 to have them repaired (new parts from the dealer) incl labor.  It's a little high for a car with 190,000 miles on it, but we still like the car very much!  I'd like to run it another 100,000 miles.

First, are used parts available or must the whole assembly be replaced?  Are there places which specialize in these parts? If so, do you have a recommendation?

How difficult is it to remove the seat?  I presume only 4 nuts and disengage the electronics.  Once the seat is out, then the unit could be removed from the seat frame?

Simple to remove. Just unplug the wiring harnesses and unbolt the seats. Easy to work on when upside down. You might find good units in a salvage yard. You might be able to buy rebuilt ones from a large auto parts supplier. Dealer labor is out of sight. You are much cheaper labor cause you work for yourself.
