    battery/electrical

My 2001 Cadillac Deville's battery keeps going dead. If the car is not started in 24 hours it will not start. I did put a new battery in and the problem still occurs. Is anyone aware of any electrical issues with this Cadillac, or any way to fix this problem?

    Re: battery/electrical

with everything off, and i do mean everything, even take the bulb from your light under the hood, close doors, anything that might draw power from your battery, Then take one terminal off your battery post, barely touch the terminal to the post, if there's a spark something is draining your battery. if you have this problem get back with me and i might be able to help you narrow down the problem. something else you might consider, have the battery load tested, i owned an alternator/starter rebuilding shop and have seen many bad new batterys.

There is a spark when everything is off.  Any other suggestions? Thanks

    Re: battery/electrical

It's a slow process to isolate the problem. You can pull one fuse from your fuse panel at a time and go thru the same process of disconnecting your battery and checking for the spark, always replace the fuse before removing another. when you finally remove a fuse and there is no spark, you have found the circuit causing the problem. one more thing, remove the hot wire from your alternator and do the same thing, sometimes its a short in the alternator.

I have found things such the rear window defroster causing the problem. good luck and let me know how it turns out

if it is a short in the alternator, would the alternator work fine when the car is on and then kill the battery when the motor is off
