One possibility of not moving could be the lack of fluid. The transmission can take up to 11-12 quarts to fill it from a full rebuild. Another possibility is the torque converter. Did you put in a new one? A converter with a high stahl will make the engine rev higher before it starts to move under load and will shift at a higher rpm under a heavy load. Possible old converter is bad? Few things to think about.

Your shift linkage may be out of adjustment. "1" should put the trans in first gear. " 2" puts it directly into second gear. "D" allows the trans to automatically shift from 1 to 2 to 3. When you put it in 1, it may not be going far enough to put it into 1st gear. The pause or sluggish is normal and is probably in 2nd, this is to keep the wheels from spinning or slipping. It's like taking off in 2nd gear with a stick shift. Check linkage adjustment first.

hello all

i need your help.

i am located in Greece... and i recently brought a 1978 camaro z28 from USA here.

the car had transmission trouble.. so i brought in a full set and openned it up.

today I finaly got to drive it for the first time.

when in Parking,,, the motor revs and sounds good.

as i put it on drive.. i guess it was ok...

when i tied ti use 1-2-D ...the car would hardly move on (1)... a little better on (2)...and in (D).. i guess it went normal..

(it has a B&M shifter)

when in (1) ..you can hear the engine rev.. but car doesnt really move... like somethong is holding it back...

when i start straight from (D) it shifts normaly from 1 to 2... and kick down works as well...(new cable)

i need your help guys...
