1978 z28 5,7 with th350

hello all

i need your help.

i am located in Greece... and i recently brought a 1978 camaro z28 from USA here.

the car had transmission trouble.. so i brought in a full set and openned it up.

today I finaly got to drive it for the first time.

when in Parking,,, the motor revs and sounds good.

as i put it on drive.. i guess it was ok...

when i tied ti use 1-2-D ...the car would hardly move on (1)... a little better on (2)...and in (D).. i guess it went normal..

(it has a B&M shifter)

when in (1) ..you can hear the engine rev.. but car doesnt really move... like somethong is holding it back...

when i start straight from (D) it shifts normaly from 1 to 2... and kick down works as well...(new cable)

i need your help guys...

Just changed the oil to correct my problem without success.

The transmission oil aeriates (pink) and the car stops with the engine running still. Is this caused by a deffected torque converter?

I have a 1996 Chevy Camaro, v6 3.8. This is complicated, but I want to explain it all so maybe someone can link everything together and figure out my car. About a year ago my Check Engine light came on and it said it was missing on cylinder 5, I had the plugs and wires changed. The light went off. Then if you would go and make like 2 or 3 trips in a short period of time, after a few start ups...the car would just not start, and would not start for a few hours, then all of a sudden it would start fine. It went on like that for the whole year and still does it from time to time. But now what it normally does if you start it a lot in a short period of time is that it will start, and back you up out of the driveway or whatever, but as soon as you start going forward and push the gas it spudders like it is going to stall then just all of a sudden takes off and drives fine. Unless you try going up a hill....it spudders the whole way up it. Quite frequently now when it is spuddering the check engine light comes on and it always said that it is missing on cylinder 5. I have had the coil pack and the module changed. When it is spuddering you can push the gas all the way to the floor and it does nothing. My mechanic just will say a list of things he could do, but he really doesn't know what is wrong, and he doesn't listen to the whole problem, because he works on cars as a side job and really doesn't want to take the time and figure my car out...but he is cheap and all I can afford right now. He says my problems now have nothing to do with when it wouldn't start like it used to do, but I never had that probelm fixed, so I assume it has something to do with it. The car can't fix itself. It also now will spudder and the check engine liight comes on (saying a misfire) when it rains hard or you drive it through a car wash. I just need help and I don't have a ton of money to spend. I feel all of the cars problems are intertwined with each other since I have never fixed it, the probelms just keep progressing. It used to do this one in awhile, now it does it almost everyday. Oh, I almost forgot, the check engine light also comes on (saying misfire) when you turn the heat or a/c on. When the light comes on, with all of the different things that makes it come on, (heat, rain, mutliple starts) the car ALWAYS acts the same it spits adn spudders and you think it is about the stall. Sometimes it will just all of a sudden quit and run fine and other times it has to sit overnight before it acts normal. PLEASE someone take a few minutes and think this through and bring me some answers! Thanks for trying!

91 RS Camaro 3.1 V6 "Erratic shiting"

My Camaro has been shifting erratically from 3rd to over drive while driven at about 40-50 mph. A couple of weeks ago, it stalled while shifting from 1st to 2nd and would not start back up, it posted a code 13. I disconnected the battery to reset the computer and had check the wires from the TPS senor and the O2 senor both were ok. It had a strong exhaust oder when it had warmed up so I installed a new O2. It idals erratically I check the fuel injectors and they tested good. Also the timing and spark plug wires are good also. Am I over looking something ? Please Help me. Thank You.

1983 Camaro Cross Fire Injection

I have a 1983 Camaro Cross Fire Injection. The car had been running fine, then it got to where it would accelerate. It would backfire up through the breather and not open up. I replaced the O2 sensor and the fuel filter but it did not help. Then it got to where it wouldn't start. A new set of plugs got it to start again but it still will not open up. I had a mechanic to check it out and he said my catalytic converter was stopped up and he cut the exhaust off in front of the converter. It still has the same problem but he said that once i got a new converter put on, it should fix the problem because it did not have any back pressure with the exhaust cut off. I asked if he checked the fuel pump pressure and he said he did. It had just enough pressure at idle, but when accelerated, it lost all pressure. He said this was due to no back pressure. Is this the case or is the fuel pump on my car in need of replacement?

when i start my camaro the oil pressure is very lowe and check guages light comes on - when i start to drive the oil pressure goes up and check guages light goes off but when i come to a stop or low idol the oil pressure drops and check guages light comes back so i was woundering if it could be a oil pump problem and if it is ok to keep driving it or is this a major problem and should i park it until i can have it looksd at!! thanks to anyone that can help - i just bought the car yesterday and i had no problems because everything seems to run great as long as im going but when i stop thats when i see my guages are in trouble and i didnt stop until i got home thanks again jayme campbell

I have a 1989 Camaro and the fuel pump has quit working. Is there an access panel that can be used to change it, or does the gas tank have to be dropped?

I am not a mechanic, but know my way around the engine. My car won't start at all. I have juice in the battery, the alternator works fine, the starter kicks off, I also checked the ignition switch part under the steering column and that works fine. The day before it wouldn't start, it worked just fine. I had a new system installed sometime ago (dvd) and it has this switch that goes on and off. Well the last thing I can remember before the problem existed is that i forgot to turn the switch off and then the next morning the car wouldn't start at all. i thought that had something to do with it, so I called the technician hoping it was the problem, but he said it wasn't because it isn't connected anyway to the ignition switch or engine. the last thing that auto zone suggested was that it could be the car alarm. To disconnect it and see if that would turn on. The alarm still goes off and on when i click the remote. However, I did notice while turning the key to turn and start the engine, apart from all the lights turning on the dashboard the only ones that stayed on was the "security" and "check engine" lights. Please can you provide your expertise on helping me find the connection to the alarm. It is a manufacture alarm, so auto zone couldn't find it for me OR help me troubleshoot other possible suggestions on why my car won't start. Oh, I also did make sure that the emergency brakes are not on while turning the ignition on, plus I did check all the fuses and they are fine. I have a 2002-z28 -v8, if this information is necessary.

Hi,my name is Rocky, I have a 1987 camaro iroc z28, 5.7 tpi 350. The car set for 2 yrs.When i went to put back in service, it would start, but as soon as iwould try to accel, it would hesitate intermitenly, but will not shut down.I've already replace fuel pump,tps sensor,maf sensor,anyway most of the sensors and still the same problem. Anybody

1999 z28 been sitting for 2 yrs. wouldnt start replaced fuel pump now it starts up but will only run for a minute then dies. usually the tach doesnt move for a sec. then jumps all the way up and the car dies. but at times it will move like it should. but will still only run a few minutes what could be causing this? electrical?

Here it is short and sweet. While driving and when I push down on the right front I get alot of squeeking. I've been told and i think it's the "bushing". I think it might be a minor repair, but I dont know how to do it. I was wondering if there was a site where I could look at a diagram. I will also take any advice. Thanks

Recently my choke light came on and will not go off no matter what I have tried. I bought my camaro for $1350 in August of last year. I thought it was quite the steal and I've been told it was but this car was a real POS! I have changed so many things it is unbelievable.

My first problem was it had a shitty edelbrock air cleaner but a rochester 4 barrel carburetor w/ the pcv disconnected and smog parts missing and smog hoses disconnected and wiring problems like I have never seen. Luckily I know electrical pretty well from air conditiong classes I took in college for 2 years and my dad is a former air force jet mechanic and car mechanic as well.

I had to change alot of relays and rewire stuff and get a stock air cleaner from the junk yard.

Then I had starting problems and had to change the starter, battery, battery positive cable, and ignition switch. YES IT WAS BAD!

then I couldn't pass smog too so I had to get a new gas cap.

My transmission broke down and I got it rebuilt

I put a new distributor cap and rotor and spark plugs on it. rewired the horn and fixed so much other small crap

Then the front brakes got loud and grindy so I replaced the wheel bearings, cailpers, rotors, pads, and seals and I had already replaced brake lines and fuel line and the fuel filter, air filter, air cleaner temperature sensor, pcv valve.....the vacuum motor

All this stuff was bad

I've changed oil twice....the oil was pitch black on the transmission and the engine was pretty dirty too...

my flywheel was replaced...

MY DAMN CHOKE IS FUNCTIONING AT IDLE! but this stupid light is staying on....I read it can be my alternator but for *** sake that wouldn't make any sense, I read it can be a clogged fuel filter but that is bullshit.

When I disconnect the wire from the choke the light goes off and the choke still is working...

HELP me....

'95 Camero - Shutters During Acelleration

My son's '95 Camero has started to shutter/shake when he accelerates. When he lets off of the gas and/or slows down the shaking stops. We recently had new tires installed so we took it back to the garage to make sure that we had not thrown a weight or that a rim might have been loose or bent. He also checked the transmission fluid level and it was at the proper level.

Any suggestions?
