Audi A4 Brakedust!

This may sound a little superficial, but does anyone know if a different brakepad can be used to avoid the excessive brakedust. I've owned a Volvo in the past and had hoped the Audi would be better. I can't keep the wheels clean for more than one day.

I turned the car off to get gas yesterday and when I got back in the car,none of my lights, or turn lights worked. Is it possible that the fuses blew just then? It has also had some fan issues. Please write me back at lindabrothanek@yahoo.com

Hey there, I have an 2003 A4 and both my front windows don't work. I have heard that the windows are a common problem on these A4's. Has anyone had the same problem? Does anyone know what's wrong? I need some help thanks

Hello all - recently my Audi began randomly reving as I was driving. Other times it would seem somewhat unresponsive to the foot pedal. I took it in to the Audi shop where they told me that I was leaking Transmission fluid and said something else about my Torque Converter. The question I have is related to relativity of repairs. As I fear spending 6000 dollars on replacing parts I am curious to those who know better if one most always replace a torque converter if it is causing a leak in Transmission fluid or if there are rings or seals that can be looked at as well? if you have any info please email me at pcostein@yahoo.com

1999 Audi A4 Gave Me a Scare

This afternoon, my Audi wouldn't start. There weren't any strange noises or lights, it just wouldn't turn over. It finally started after 5 or 6 attempts. The battery meter on the instrument panel indicated plenty of charge and I had no trouble on the drive home. Any suggestions?

Audi A4 2.8 1996 Won't Start

The starter was bad and I replaced it with new starter, all connections are correct and very clean and tight. However car won't start and is making a clicking noise up top and am wondering if neutral safety switch is bad? There is NO power to new starter, and the click sound comes from a small electronic silver cylinder located at back of right valve cover. Is this the neutral safety switch??

Antifreeze loss

I have a 1990 audi 80 4 cylinder automatic with 130,000 miles, that keeps losing antifreeze and can't find the leak if any . The heater blows cold air and yet the car doesn't over heat at all . Every couple of days I have to add a small amount of coolant to the resevoir so the lite will go off . I smell antifreeze when driving and when sitting at a light or in traffic in starts to miss. When I take off ,there is a cloud of smoke or steam , not sure which. I have no water in the oil , but do have an oily sludge in my resevoir . Is this a head gasket problem or is there something else that could cause this?

I have a 2006 A4 Cabriolet 1.8 that caught fire yesterday. Completely burned the front half of the car. The fireman said it was a wiring problem. Is anyone else having electrical/wiring problems?

My 2002 A4T was running fine as I drove 30 miles home from work. After being parked for 30 minutes I jumped in and it wouldn't turn over! I tried twice before giving it a lil gas then it started. I noticed the EPC ( electronic power control ) light came on. Then then the CHECK ENGINE light came on! I lost a lot of power trying to get up a hill! What's up with this EPC and is it costly?

check engine light and thermostat detecting engine running too cool

Has anyone heard of this problem? I have a 1997 A4 2.8 quattro with 74,000 miles, For about the past year, the check engine light comes on, I take it to the repair shop, they check it and tell me that they can't find anything wrong with it. They will turn the light off for me. The light continues to come on about every month or so, and I take it in again. The engine runs just fine; no symptoms of anything wrong. Finally, I asked the repair shop if they could investigate it a little more fully, and they said that they thought that it might be that the thermostat was indicating that the engine was not getting to its optimum heating temperature-it may be running too cool. They indicated tht if I was going to keep the car, I should change the timing belt at the same time that I check out the thermostat, as getting to the thermostat involves a lot of labor. M;y question is: Should I sell the car or invest in the repairs? I haven't had anything major happen to the car-just recalls and typical maintenance.

Hi. I don't know here exactly to post this message because as you can see it has different car makes. Anyway, my uncle want to build a shop specializing in selling car parts and accessories. And as of now he's looking for some Acura Oxygen Sensor, Audi Oxygen Sensor and Buick Oxygen Sensor. For now the parts he's looking for are for the luxury cars. He's into those and the vintage ones but if he got time and of course the money, he will extend the business. He will also have a mechanic who will take good care of the vehicle for repair and maintenance. But I just want to know where my uncle can get some parts for low cost. He'll buy it in a dozen I guess, so discounts are available. Thanks everyone.

Audi Modifications

I have a 99 2.8 A4 Quattro and I'm looking into replacing my exhaust system w/ a performance cat back system. After I replace the exhaust will I need to take the vehicle in to get it calibrated so that the car will run smoothly? Secondly I want to get a body kit put on my car. How hard is it to work on myself, or should I have it taken care of by pro's? Audi Shwaat

Audi A4 2002 Turbo Problem

My 2002 Audi A4 started to drive real slow, no pep. I'm hoping the Turbo didn't go and that it is somethig else around the Turbo. Does anyone know how much a replacement Turbo goes for? A4 cabriolet 2005 brake failure

I had an accident with my Audi A4 2005 cabriloet, the brakes failed and I had a frontal impact with a pickup at 15 mph. 4 weeks before I had my car checked at the repair shop due to a warning light of brakes and air bags as well as for a malfunctioning of the brakes.I was driving alone, driver's air bag did not deployed but passenger's air bag did deployed. Roll over bars ejected even with no attempt to roll. Audi sent their techniccian and stated that the car, the brakes are OK even they inspected at the body shop with out running the engine.

Is any of the above situations is normal? how can I support the manufacturer denial of the car performance at the accident? is this a defect or possible problem in this model?

2003 Audi A4 Ignition problem

Hello all. Im new to the site and and hoping someone can help me. I have a 03 Audi A4 1.8T with 27000 miles. When I crank the engine, there is no ignition ( no spark at the spark plugs) even though the engine cranks fine. Where do I start looking? Im pretty mechanically inclined but electrical issues sometimes stump me. A little history on the car: It has a small engine fire due to the engine wire harness shorting and igniting. I replaced the entire engine wire harness and checked to make sure I did'nt miss any plugs although it is possible. Can anyone out there give me a starting point where to begin looking? Any help would be greaty appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hello

I'm looking for someone to help me an also be truthful, I purchased a 1998 audi a4 a month ago. I immediatly had the signal lights to go out. I returned the car back to dealership and they repaired the problem the dealership replaced the turn signal swith and hazzard switch. I went to pick car up , drove it for maybe two days an then another problem occured I noticed the air bag light stayed on continuously and the abs/brake light started comming on staying contiuously then it would go out for maybe 10 min the reoccur , so naturally I took it back to the dealership. The dealership sent the car to an audi dealership for accurated testing and possibly repair the audi dealship claimed they repaired the airbag light and an replaced the brake light switch, went to pick car up was not a block away an the abs/brake light returned as if it was not even serviced , returned the car to the dealership where I purchased the car they then sent car back to audi dealship which claimed that they was not aware that the abs /brake light was a problem . Audi dealership checked the car again said that the car needed a abs control module. When the car was sent to the audi dealership they actually was supposed to have chedcked an repair the abs/ brake problem well it has not happen an I'm now getting the run arounds about having it serviced because the dealership I purchase the car from is stating that they need to look into the situation because they feel they are spending more than I guess they inticipated on repairs on this car and I only had a thirty day warranty. I purchased the car for 8,500.00 cash and I think that the dealership has only maybe invested close to 1500.00 for repairs they tell me I only have a reciept for maybe 500.00. Please help me I've spoke with the service Manager the used car manager an Monday I will be taking this to the General Manager, I'm asking for advice on this matter because know one is trying to solve this matter the problem was exsisting an should have been repaired, well now that the thirday warranty has expired no one seems to care. Pleas give me some advice if you can

Audi A4 - Crank case Bolts

I own a 2001 Audi A4 that has a hole in the engine block. This occured on Feb. 19th. The dealership is telling me that 2 bolts in the crankcase worked their way out backwards and were hurled causing the cracking of the engine block. I do not understand how this could happen. These bolts do not come loose or work their way out. It this not a factory defect or manufacturing flaw. Feed back would be appreciated.
