The plugs quit firing. I first did a tune-up on it about six months ago and it seems that every 2 to 3,000 miles it will not start once it is shut off and cooled. I first thought it was the coil. I tested that and it is good. Does anyone know anything about what the problem could be? I have worked on engines for years and have never came across this before.

mctagugl

1996 Windstar sliding door hard to open/close

Hi.

I have a 1996 Windstar. The sliding door gets very stiff & sometimes takes a huge amount of muscle power to open. There does not seem to be anything that sets it off - it's just sometimes normal and sometimes not. I have thoroughly inspected the track and cleaned it well. I have also given it very healthy doses of WD40 & Kroil, but it doesn't help. I have done everything short of taking the door off to find the problem. Do you have any ideas?

Note: This van sees my mechanic very regularly and the expenses are getting very irritating. I would like to fix it myself this time.

Thanks!

Kendra

1995 Contour...headlight problem

My headlights no longer worker, the fuses are not blown and the bulbs are perfectly fine. I was told that it has 60,000 miles on a rebuilt engine. the engine is a v-8, but i'm not sure what liter 5.0 or 5.8. it has eddelbrock headers and a new eddelbrock carburator. the issue that i am haveing is that once the engine has warmed up, it runs fine until you come to a stop. then, when you take off again it runs rough. there's hesitation when you press the gas. not necessarily like it's going to die, but runs rough. Almost like having bad gas or something. when you get up to about 40 mph it starts to smooth out a little, but is still a little rough. (note: it' doesn't do this all of the time, but about 80% of the time). Also, I noticed that if I put it in park the engine idles faster.(about 1000 rpm). when it's in drive it idles slower(about 800 rpm). i was wondering if you had any ideas of where i can begin problem solving...?

I need assistance. I can replace the plugs and it will run good for about 2000 miles and will just stop starting up until I replace the plugs. Could that be the catalitic converter stopped up to a degree that it makes the plugs stop firing and a new set brings it back to life again.

The engine runs good until it won't start. Everything is good, it does not use oil or leak coolent and the fuel presure is good.

High Recommendation for Mustang Service

I'm new here... own a 2006 Mustang purchased at Capital Ford in Raleigh. My Mustang is "my baby" and I don't trust just anyone to work on her. I recently decided to forgo the nightmare of dealing with Capital Ford and also Crossroads Ford (due to horrible experiences in the past) and took my Mustang to Pittsboro Ford. I do alot of "around town" driving in Cary, Apex and Morrisville - and I see ALOT of buff Mustangs.... I wonder if all those Mustang owners know about Pittsboro Ford? From Cary - it was a shorter and less-hassled drive to get to Pittsboro... and when I got there, I was treated so much better than those other Ford dealerships. Pittsboro Ford is truly a "diamond in the rough" ~ superb attention to detail and the most friendly and honest people to deal with. I will NEVER return to Crossroads or Capital Ford; the experience was world's apart. Those other dealers just want to sell you a car and get you out the door ~ when you return for service they treat you like the plague and only care about the "bottom line". My biggest compliments to the management and owners of Pittsboro Ford ~ they do business like it used to be done... they earn it and they care!!! Highly recommend these folks... for your Mustang and your peace of mind.

OIL DEPENDENCY

WHY ISN'T FORD MAKING THE ALL ELECTRIC FORD RANGER AND THINK VEHICLES?

THE AMERICAN AUTO INDUSTRY SOLVED THE PROBLEM OF OUR OIL ADDICTION BACK IN THE MID 90'S WHEN GM CAME OUT WITH THE EV-1, FORD WITH THE ELECTRIC RANGER AND THINK AND TOYOTA WITH THE RAV-4E. THESE VEHICLES COULD BE CHARGED AT HOME AND GET 120 MILES BETWEEN CHARGES. THEY WERE FAST (0 TO 60 IN 6 SEC) AND CRUISE AT 80 MPH. THESE CARS HAD ZERO EMISSIONS AND HAD A NET LOSS IN GREEN HOUSE EMISSIONS EVEN WHEN CONSIDERING THE COAL GENERATING PLANTS USED TO CHARGE THE BATTERIES. 90% OF THE AMERICAN DRIVING PUBLIC NEEDS WOULD BE MET BY THESE VEHICLES.

THE JAPANESE ARE GOING TO MASS PRODUCE ALL ELECTRIC VEHICLES IN 2 YEARS. I HOPE FORD WILL TO. I WANT TO DRIVE BY A GAS STATION AND GIVE THEM THE BIRD.
