1990 Mazda B2200 Need advise on engine performance

I have a B2200 pickup that is running poorly. The engine runs rough at idle but runs well at higher rpms. The engine does stumble a bit while at speed. I have done spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor button, gas filter, air filter, pcv valve, replaced O2 sensor. When at idle I get a strong gas smell as if the gas is not being burnt properly. Has anybody had a similar experience and can you provide possible insight to the problem and how to fix. Thank you

Air Cleaner Housing obstructed by two major hoses!

Howdy... my 2004 B2300 has a radiator hose and an a/c hose crossing tightly over the top of my air cleaner housing!!! Just notice this after two years now. Worse, it seems pretty impossible to open and slide-away that housing & air hose assembly from the cartridge cavity for changing the filter. Has anyone else noticed this feature of their engine compartment??? It's hard for me to believe that this is the Mazda/Ford design spec!!! Any good leads here? Let me know, please. And thanks!

wipers won't work belive motor is problem, chilton repair manual say's first turn on ignition then wiper switch and stop in up position

then disconet neg battery cable remove wiper blade arm then nut holdin same and let drop down. remove access plate and remove clip holding motor to wiper links how can you get the wipers to up position if motor is bad ??? is there another way to get the clip from motor so can remove and replace... thanks blueyecat

I have a 1983 Mazda b2200 diesel pickup. I'm having trouble figuring out how to replace

the old speedometer cable. I wouldn't bother with the replacement, but due to the DEQ

requirements, (Department of Environmental Quality), the truck won't pass unless it has

a working speedometer. Can you please help me figure out an easy way to install a new one?

Other than that, my truck works great.

1990 b2200 pick up with Carb. When cold you have to pump accelerator a lot of times to crank. You have to continue to pump accelerator to keep it running for maybe 30 seconds then it will idle at about 2000 rpms until warm and then it will go down to around 1000 rpms. Two times I have noticed a wet spot under the vehicle. It had leaked fuel. I looked under the hood to see where the gas was coming from. It looked like it was coming from the fuel pump. It is always hard to crank but has only leaked the gas twice. Any ideas?

B3000 Engine Installation

I had a blown piston so I pulled the engine out with the torque converter attached to it. Now I'm having trouble reinstalling the engine. I'm not sure if it's caused by the torque converter not going all the way in or the crankshaft. The clearance on the transmission side is from 1" to 1 1/8" from the torque converter bolt to the outside edge of the transmission housing. The distance from the back of the engine block to the end of the flywheel is 1 1/2". Obviously the torque converter should go in at least another 1/2" but it looks like the converter will go in all it can. Looking at the old mark on the crankshaft it looks like it should go in probably another 1/4" but I can't get it to budge. If I do get it to go in another 1/4" then the flywheel will be too close to the engine block and might possibly scrap the oil pan. How do I find out which side is causing the problem? If the torque converter needs to go in more how do I make it go in more? I already got it to drop in two times. If it's on the engine side, how do I get the crank to go in? It looks like the crank is installed correctly. Or is there another problem? Thanks.

engine won't shut off

I have a 1986 b-2000 that will not shut off. I have put a new switch in the truck, but it still stays running. Is there a relay or breaker somewhere that is causing this problem.

idle problem

I bought this 1989 mazada b2200 truck. I have had it for about 2 months. It has 95,000 miles on it and seems to have been very well maintained. Most recently when i start the truck, i have noticed on some days it has white smoke that comes out of the exhaust alot all at once and it is usually when it is idleing very high , then i hit the gas and it idles slower and don't smoke anymore. It uses maybe 1/2 quart of oil every couple of weeks or so but not bad at all for the kind of mileage i put on it. Now the idle problem seems to be getting worse, if it's warm it idles too low and has started dieing at stop lights. It has also been spittin and sputtering and starting to miss, today i heard a very loud ticking in the car as if it was low on oil or the valves were chattering, the oil was fine and the funny thing about the problem it is having , it always starts back after it dies. Could this be a sign it is about to jump time and if so does it have a timing chain on this model or a timing belt? How often should this be replaced?

Mazda B2300 ignition problem

I have Mazda 2300 series SE, 2001 with 86,000 miles. Just recently I got an ignition problem. CHECK ENGINE light is on and the OBD test showed code for misfiring and the ignition coil problem. I replaced the ignition coil, HV cables and spark plugs. I noticed that spark plug # 1 and # 4 do not ignite. I checked the ignition coil and there was no spark on # 1 and # 4. The OBD tester was still showing an ignition problem. I went to another shop and their OBD tester (more advanced) showed also a faulty camshaft position sensor. I replaced it and the problem is still the same. Only cylinders #2 and #3 are firing. I checked with an oscilloscope signals from PCM (pins 26 and 52) to the ignition coil. I have pulses, the problem is that I don't know if they are correct. I suspect that there is another sensor that is faulty but I is don't know which one and how to check it. The entire engine is made by Ford. Advice me please. Thank you.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED AN 1994 MAZCA B4000 AND THE CRUISE OR SPEED CONTROL WILL NOT ENGAGE. I THOUGHT MAYBE THE BUTTONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL MAY NOT BE MAKING GOOD CONTACT SO I KEPT PUSHING AND GOT IT TO ENGAGE ONCE AND EVERYTHING WORKED GREAT. THE NEXT DAY I TRIED AND NO LUCK. WOULD TAKING THE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOOSE AND CLEANING THE CONTACTS OR SPRAYING WITH ELECTRICAL MOTOR CLEANER BE RECOMENDED.

B3000 seat latch repair

My '94 B3000 ext cab has a faulty seat back latch on the driver's side. It has never locked in the rear position in the year and half I've owned it. It came with 132,000 miles, previously owned by a really big guy (380 lbs.). Now the seat falls back in ot the reclining postion without warning, about twice a day. It will stay if pulled back up, but it's dangerous. Does anyone know of a repair, tech bulletin, or parts to order? Most of the dealers say that because it's 10 years old or more, it's better to go to a salvage yard and buy used seats. My upholstery still looks great and much better than the junk yard seats. Besides, how do I know I'm not just trading problems with older used stuff? I've asked Mazda and For Ranger folks. No concrete answers.

How do I install an antenna? There was never an antenna installed when the truck was purchased. Specifically, I need to get the wire from the fendor into the cab.

Courtesy light will not go out.

I have checked both door switches and the dash light dimmer. The courtesy light will stay on until the battery dies. I have removed the bulb but that is not acceptable.

What else should I look for?

My pickup is a '94 B-300, 4X4 extented cab with a stick shift. The courtesy light does not have the "Map Light" option.

Can anyone help?

mazda b2000 - hesitation and jerking

My Mazda B2000 hesitates and jerks only when the EGR is connected. I recently replaced the EGR with a new one from the dealership thinking the problem would be eliminated; it wasn't. What else can be causing these symptoms and how would it explain the EGR's involvment.

I have a mazda B2300 pickup, 1994. Its got the check engine light on so I had it put on the trouble code computer at mazda and it said it has a crossfire. It only does it once in a while and when it starts the tach stops working. I changed the two coils and it worked good for about a week but then it started again. I have also changed plug wires with no results. Help please
