Re: Hyundai XG300 Check Engine Light

What you are probably experiencing here is a bad oxygen sensor. On some machines, the error code explains that the car is running lean. The sensor tells the computer that there is not enough gas and the computer compensates by adding more gas to the mix which makes it too rich even though the sensor is still saying the car is running lean. Do you have trouble passing a smog test? If so, this is more than likely the problem.

If you are not having trouble passing an emissions test, then you may have an air leak somewhere on the fuel injector or in the seals for the injector rail.

The O2 sensors are about $150 each and there are four of them (in the '01 model anyway) and you'd have to find out which one is bad.

If anyone knows why my car flipped out (hazard lights flashing, both rear windows rolling down by themselves and not rolling up again, seatbelt warning light coming on and not going off, and more than I can explain here) let me know. Okay? I've ruled out gremlins and alien mind bender conspiracies, but most anything else is still a possibility.

Take care! I hope you get the problem fixed without any further drama.
