I have an '84 Ford F150 (I've had it about a month, give or take), 351/V-8 (rebuilt, currently ~28,000 miles), Holley carb (also rebuilt ~2 yrs. ago), 4WD, automatic Tranny, dual tanks, etc. When filling up, the rear tank has given me fits - the last two times I filled, I put the nozzle all the way in and began pumping, but fuel came sloshing out after a few minutes. I started babying it, only inserting the nozzle a bit, pumping slowly, etc. Today when trying to fill, it wouldn't even take gas slowly - it just kept backfilling after ~10 cents, would eventually gurgle in... I think I got maybe $4 in it before getting pissed off and saying screw it. It may also help to know that the gauge does not work for the front tank - works perfectly for the rear, and was nearing empty when I went to the pumps today.
Any idea why it would be doing this and how to fix? THANX
