What could I do if I co'signed for a family member, but now I want to try to sell the car or turn it back in to the dealership?

First, you need to understand that if you give the car back it will hurt yours and the other persons credit. If you cosigned you have ownership in the car too but you're really there in case they stop paying. If you can, sell the car. Just remember that you will probably drive a wedge between the two of you.

Just sell the car and payoff the principle balance.  If the sales price is not enough to payoff the car, then you have to look for the diff.  Otherwise it will show as a repo on your credit report.
