I can start my SUV, and turn it off, but key won't come out?

There is a safty cable that goes from the gear shift handle to the ignition lock.  What happens is this cable either lossens at the hold down bracket on the ignition lock or it gets out of adjustment.  The first problem is easy to see you lay on your back and look up under the dash near where the key goes into and you can see the cable if it is loose at the mount then you tighten the screw.  If it is out of adjustment then you get to take your car to a repair facility because it takes a lot of screw and know how on taking apart the trim on your axiom to get to the adjustment.

Make sure that your shifter is going fully into park. Sometimes the vehicle could be in park, but the shifter isn't fully lined up with the interlock cable and cause the key to not come out.
