How hard is it to change the timing belt on 2002 sedona? What other parts should be replaced when this is done?

Re: free kia master tech help

If you are pretty handy it will be on a difficulty level of 7 out of 10. we usually charge 6 hours labor to the customer, it takes me about three since I eat, sleep kia all day. the timing belt as well as the hydraulic tensioner needs to be changed. this will run you about $ 120.00 or so for the belt and the tensioner is about $114.00 .  There are some listings on ebay but make sure it is for the belt and hydrauilic tensioner, the tensioner pulley and idler pulley really don't have to be changed so those belt kits listed are a waste, I have been with kia for almost 9 years and still have not needed to change one. the best thing is a genuine kia part especially if you have a kia 100,000 mile warranty on the powertrain. if you need full illustrated installation instructions e-mail me at almek99@verizon.net

Re: free kia master tech help

My wife and I bought a Rondo and a Sportage over Memorial Day weekend.  After having the cars for a little over a week we started having trouble getting gasonline into the Rondo.  We could only get about 2 gallons at a time in before the fuel nozzle would shut down.  We brought the car in and they replaced the filter that sits between the tank and the fuel tank inlet.  This did not fix the problem.  Kia then ordered us a new gas tank and this still did not fix it.  Right now, 5 weeks later, they still have the car and they say they are still waiting for another part to come in.  It's been over a week waiting for this part and they are not able to give me a date when the part is supposed to be in.  I was just wondering if you'd heard of this happening with other Kia's, the Rondo in particular.  We are going to the dealership tonight to begin the fight to get a new car at this point.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Re: free kia master tech help

check all your grounds, the one on the battery tray from the manifold and the one on the upper area of the transmission on the pass side. quick test you can ground the engine using a jumper cable from the engine ( any metal area of the engine ) and ground it to any metal area of the body, then see if cranking improves. e-mail me if you have any further questions at almek99@comcast.net

Re: free kia master tech help

remove the wheel then remove the brake caliper and rotor, remove the (6 ) 10mm bolts holding the free wheel hub, remove the locking (2 ) phillip screws, remove the lock ring and snap ring, remove the spindle nut using a 4wd socket that has the two tabs on it. remove the hub assembly and then you can replace both inner and outer wheel bearings and races. if you need some detailed illustrated instructions please e-mail me at almek99@comcast.net

Re: free kia master tech help

Hi Almek, I have a 2008 Rondo, and I have a couple of questions. There is 23000 kilometers on the vehichle (12,000 miles approx) I just came back from the dealer and they tell me the rotors need to be replaced and one of the calipers has seized? and want to do a brake job approx $800-1000 I would think. I am going to get another opinion before I get the work done (if necessary)

My second problem is the horn just quit, absolutely nothing. I checked the fuse and it seemed OK I changed it anyway just in case but still no horn.

    Any advice on both issues?

    Thanks

    Gerry
