    02 Saturn SL1 - security/PASSLOCK System

After changing the oil on my car I went to start it and the security light came on.  Now, I can not get my car to start because of the car's security (PASSLOCK) system malfunctioning.  How do I go about fixing this so I can start my car and drive it again?

    Re: 02 Saturn SL1 - security/PASSLOCK System

    Follow this procedures.

1.Turn Ignition switch to on position(do not cranck engine)

2.Momentarily roll key foward so that the engine cranks for 2 seconds.(do not try to start engine,it wont start.)

    3.Wait 10 minutes

4.Observe security light. It should change state from flashing or on to completely off.

5.turn the ignition switch to off.for 5 seconds then the vehiocle should restart.

If this method doesnt work then use this one.

    1. Roll the key cylinder to on, with the engine OFF.
    2. Attempt to start the car, then release the key to ON (vehicle will not start).
    3. Observe the SECURITY light, after approximately 10 minutes the security light will turn OFF.
    4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
    5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes (the vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock™ Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK).

    Re: 02 Saturn SL1 - security/PASSLOCK System

Hi, I  have a 2004 Saturn ION that doesn't seem to want to start in the cold weather. I've had it towed numerous times and to the same mechanic that I trust. He's never sold me anything that I didn't need. and he doesn't seem to know what the problem is. But by searching the internet it seems that I've found the problem but saturn doesn't want to step up to the plate and correct the problem. I called them today after reading all of these posts and was told by (Becky 1-866-790-5600 ext. 31636) that no one has complained about this problem before. So if this problem is happening to you please call Becky at the above number and let her know that you're having the same problem and maybe, just maybe we can all get our cars fixed! Just to add to this, the car only has 22,000 miles on it and I mostly use it for back and forth to work every day. I had to take my Moms 1988 Buick to work yesterday, which started up no problem in the cold. Don't forget to call Becky!

    Hi All,

I always check the rates with several codes from that list and book the lowest, without even looking whose it is. So do my friends. We have never been asked to show any ID, certificate, business card, flight ticket or anything else. The rental agent really couldn't care less, and I'm sure the rental company is happy to get the business even at a low margin.

    Re: 02 Saturn SL1 - security/PASSLOCK System

What we have discovered with our Saturn was with the key, you have to push twice before you hear the beep, well if you just push it once you can hear the door locking and do not push it the second time then this never seems to happen again. If you push the lock twice and hear the beep then after a few times it will do the security lock issue!  Good luck remembering only one time to lock!

    Re: 02 Saturn SL1 - security/PASSLOCK System

From a 12 volt installation technicians point of view....

Well that is just what was expected.
GM's responsible for it and as usual,
then runs away from the problem. Total mismanagement again, and now, a loss
for many American auto workers and customers.

So, ok, instead of sulking about it till I died,
early last year, I saw the writing on the wall and then
I started selling a product that solves
the faulty GM PASSLOCK systems that GM is notorious
for. To see how I get this done, go to www.GMPASSLOCK.com .

It works to correct a problem that GM will not/can not
recall. & now more than ever,
Saturn owners who drive in under 30 degree temps
will need it to fix they're issue for good.

    It's because of the Goop!
The anti static/mimetic gel in the tumbler is super temp sensitive and
that's also where the PASSLOCK II sensor is placed.
(fails in extreme Hot or cold)

Stupid design. This causes the signal to be degraded and sets up
an expected "security breach" signal to the fuel rail.
    Stranding you.

To top it all off, service for it is hard to come by,
and now unfortunately defunct for this particular issue.
No more Saturn to recall it. Sucks. But the PLJX kit should
alleviate  the trouble if installed per our instructions.

Not too hard to do if you've ever done Car stereo
    or, Car alarm work.

If not, (don't be proud! A lot of people won't do this work),
Then locate someone who does car alarms and remote start
work as this is right up they're alley!)

& I know it's very annoying for owners of Saturn vehicles,
like yours. The PLJX bypass kit is likely to be what you need here
    for remote starter applications or,
to terminate your PASSLOCK system for good.

& that's really all there is to it.

Have a look to see if you want to try it.

    Have a great day!

    Re: 02 Saturn SL1 - security/PASSLOCK System

    Hello,

I have a 2003 Saturn Ion 3. I have a problem that if I use the remote electronic key to lock my car the alarm will go off after a few minutes. However, if I manually lock my car the alarm does not go off. Do you have any ideas what the cause of this problem would be?

    Thanks
