    install speedometer cable

I have a 1983 Mazda b2200 diesel pickup.  I'm having trouble figuring out how to replace

the old speedometer cable.  I wouldn't bother with the replacement, but due to the DEQ

requirements, (Department of Environmental Quality), the truck won't pass unless it has

a working speedometer.  Can you please help me figure out an easy way to install a new one?

Other than that, my truck works great.

    Re: install speedometer cable

Tie a strong string to the end of the cable at the dash board.  When you're sure that it won't come loose, pull the old cable through the grommet in the fire wall and down to where it attaches to the trans.  When you have enough length of string, untie it from the old cable and tie it to the new one.  Then just pull the string, making sure that the cable doesn't get hooked on anything, and it will follow the old cable's path right back to the dash.  then just attach where they're supposed too and you're done.

It's not broke... It's just.... Ok it's broke but I can fix it! Where's my duck tape?
