Buying out of town, driving back

Not sure if you can help.

I am going home to visit my parents, out of town (Sudbury).  I will be looking for a vehicle while there.  I was wondering if there's a way if I find something, to drive it back to Ottawa?

I don't currently have a car, so no insurrance.  I have heard you can get insurrance to drive the car back (24 hour thing or what-not)... also someone mentionned the liscence plate itself needs to be attached, but because it's a weekend, I'm wonderin if there's a way I can get out of that too...

    Any advice?

Contact an insurance company before you go and buy.  Some companies are open sat and sun.  You can call them from the dealership and secure insurance that way.
