My gas tank is leaking. does anyone know where I can get a replacement tank without going to the dealer ? ( 97 sportage 4x4 ex )

Stop what you are doing! did you know you may qualify for the new fuel tank inspection that Kia has for all the older sportages. the procedure inspection is RB001 and it is a fuel tank inspection of your vehicle , if your tank is leaking you get at no charge a new fuel tank and if your fuel pump is also corroded you get that as well. If you are not sure and do not want to go to the dealer just yet you can e-mail me your VIN number and I can run it at work on monday. almek99@comcast.net

I took my kia to the dealer for the gas tank leak and seat belts. they changed the belts but not the gas tank. I was told the tank recall is for a puncture on the bottom of the tank and does not cover the seam if it leaks. does anyone know what this gas tank recall does cover ? this dealer I went to didn't even call me to ask what I would like to do about the tank. they just said the car was done. I am pissed and would like as much info I can get about the tank recall . any help would be great. thanks to everyone who can help.

Have the tank replaced by a professional.. Don’t try to save money on this type of problem with any kind of patch job. Have her pay you back when she gets on her feet.... fuel leaks are very dangerous. Auto part maintenance is very important.
