My mechanic recommends I have the transfer case service performed, as well as the air induction service. The truck just hit 30000miles and I have only driven in 4wd once. My driving is mostly all highway as my morning commute is 40minutes.

Is my mechanic just trying to make some money or are these services necessary?

Mechanics are expert on that part man, never argue with them. Once I tried arguing with my mechanic about my transmission and I ended up parking my car on my garage. What happened?
