climate control switch problems

I have a 2001 Galant and every time try to move my climate control switch to heat or to the air it will shoot back to the middle. Any idea why and what I can do to fix this problem[:'(]

It is a wire that keeps getting tangled. You can turn it back and forth and it will unwind.
