I recently purchased a 2008 Miata and discovered small areas in the paint (1/16" up to one at 1/4" in diameter) where a slight cloudiness had developed.  The folks at the dealership said it was where moisture had gotten between a protective layer and the paint during shipping.  They stuck it under a auto paint shops drying lights and some of the cloudiness went away.  The color is copper mica red.  There are mayb 20 very small areas remaining and they said there is nothing they can do except repaint, which I'm not going to do.  A regional rep will be talking with me on this issue.  Has anyone had this experience on their Mazda?    Should I be concerned that rust/paint problems might develop after the 3 year warrenty is over?         Zmiata

this is a common problem with Miata and its miata parts..there was some process problem, but it wasn't generally acknowledged. Some car dealers, took care of the repainting at their expense. But now, those cars are far past their period in warranty. There's no way Mazda or any dealerships to pay for a new paint job.
