I have a 1992 Mercury Capri with 50,000 miles on it. Sometimes it won't start. When I turn the key there is no sound and the car won't start. If I wait 5 minutes sometimes it will start. If not, I get out, open the hood and then slam it and then it starts. It only happens every few months. I had the same problem with my 1994 Ford Explorer. The Ford dealer told me to have it towed in when it happened which I did and they couldn't figure it out. It finally started while they had it. I was wondering if this could be because both cars are made by Ford. They both have an Automate alarm which was installed by the same Ford dealer.
