Removal/refitting requires: Engine removal. Cylinder head removal.
NOTE: Refer to Technical Data for tightening sequence and torques.
Sump removal. Remove timing chain tensioner [1] & [2]11727before removing timing chain cover. Ensure crankshaft at TDC [3] & [4]11727. Lock flywheel/drive plate with locking tool. Tool No.83 94 868. Ensure camshaft timing marks aligned [5] & [6]11727. Ensure balancer shaft timing marks aligned [7] & [8]11727. Retract the balancer shaft chain tensioner and lock using a small pin [9]11727during installation. Install timing chain tensioner after installation of timing chain cover, sump and cylinder head: Release the ratchet [10]and fully depress tensioner piston. Install timing chain tensioner [2]without spring. Tightening torque: 63 Nm. Install tensioner spring and bolt [1]. Tightening torque: 22 Nm.
