    Moore Cadillac and GM

I am a former believer in Moore Cadillac service and GM standing up for what is right.  I owned a 1999 DeVille which I purchased from Moore Cadillac.  I had brought the vehicle the Moore's service since the very beginning and did almost all the service that they had piched at me.  The bottom line here is that Moore Cadillac service broke my Mass Airflow Sensor.  This led to the engine racing and the engine overheating and the head gaskets being blown.   Moore would not pay to have it repaired, so GM stated that they would have it (the MAS) repaired - at their cost and they paid for everything, labor and parts.  This is important because GM would 'normally' pay only half for a 'cutomer' satisfaction issue.  Anyway, GM stated that they were told that the damage 'most likely happened here' (at Moore Cadillac).

Moore did not even request that I bring the vehicle in to have it checked out after they new there was an issue.  I found out why later.  It turns out when the engine overheaded the head gaskets blew.  If they had requested to check the vehicle out, they would have found this and they may have to pay for that too.  It turned out well for Moore Cadillac.  As it turns out, it would cost more for me to sue them than it would to pay for the repairs myself.  I am sure that they knew this and decided to role the dice, and they won.  It took about 2-3 months before the head gaskets became known - not knowing what could have happened, when the vehicle started to run rough, I had a friend over and he replaced the spark plugs and spark wires.  He saw that there was water on the plugs and stated that I should have this checked out if this does not correct it.  He is not a mechanic and we both thought - actually hoped that this was somehow a 1 time influx of water.  Well, as it turns out it was not.  This is when I found out that the head gaskets were blown.  Apparently logic is not enough for GM or Moore Cadillac.  It was determined that there was no proof that the gaskets were blown at the time of the overheating and spewing of antifreeze.  The vehicle never overheated prior to this incident or after.  Again, I point out that Moore did not request that I bring the vehicle in for a service check and I maintain that it is because they would have found that the head gaskets were blown.  Oh, let me also state that Moore Cadillac stated that they knew that the MAS was cracked and let me drive away.  This is an important part of the engine and knowing, or should know, this allowed me to drive off anyway.  They knew or should have known that the vehicle could and most likely would speed up and cause a danger to myself and others and they told me nothing and they did nothing.  However, they did know that it would be to expensive for me to sue them.

I wrote GM and they had the vehicle looked over.  They stated that they could not 'prove' that the gaskets were blown at the time of the incident.  DUH - it was 3-4 months later and Moore did not ask to check the vehicle out.  I don't know enough, or did not know enought to have it checked.  GM could not state that there would be any other cause for the head gaskets blowing except for an overheating, but they could not 'prove' that they were blown at that particular time.

After several letters, GM offered me a $2,000 'LOYALTY' certificate - which just happens to be the same price it would have cost to have the head gasket replaced.  I finally thought to myself that I might as well just get the vehicle fixed and continue the fight with GM.  I brought the vehicle in for sevice and was told that it now needed a 'short block' - which turns out to be basically a new engine.  I was told that the bearings were not shot.  The price to fix it now was close to $8,500 and I was told that was just the beginning, it could be more once they opened it up.  The letters started again to GM, to no avail.  Now GM is stating that I took the 2K in lieu of the repair - NOT.

GM's integiry is shot for not doing the 'right' thing and repairing this vehicle.  Moore has not 'customer' service - for they should have checked the vehicle out, corrected the problem and just been forthright and fixed it.

Bottom line - stay away from Moore Cadillac's 'killer' service and GM in general.

     Good luck all
