Door's won't look when put in gear!

I have a 1998 Acura RL.  I noticed that when I put the vehicle in gear the doors do not lock automatically anymore. Has anyone else had this problem? If so please what I can do aside from going to the dealership for repairs. Thanks!

I believe that the automatic door lock is a GM feature. My RL does not lock when I put it in drive either.

Frankly, I don't like that feature because I want to make that choice and in the event of an accident

I want to be able to get out without having to fiddle with the door locks.

did it ever lock before when you put it in gear?

maybe the car doesn't have that feature like Anonymous said.

Re: Door's won't look when put in gear!

I have to disagree with the replies to this post as I have a 1998 RL. I believe the door lock feature became intermittent after an electrical "event" which drained the battery. A number of systems did not work after the battery was restored.

For example, the tilt steering wheel did not automatically adjust when you took out the key. The side mirrors did not respond properly to controls.

I was told to try disconnecting the battery and toucing the battery leads together for a minute to drain and reset all of the systems.  This did restore the tilt feature and some of the mirror functionality, but the door locks didn't come back.  I think I will try it again as it has been months since I tried it the first time.
