    engine overhaul

My cam belt failed after 64000 mis. (I thought that odd) and the dealer's repair included new head, seals, valves, - everything on top, but nothing was done to the bottom.  I thought that you couldn't replace the top without redoing the bottom 1/2 or at least checking to be sure the bottom 1/2 would be alright.  I would like to keep this car for at least another 60,000 mi's and am uneasy about the prospects. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Re: engine overhaul

if the car was not ran dry of oil or overheated normally that is very acceptable to do. if it runs great keep it, just keep the oil changed and watch the temp gage like your life depende on it. i work on these types of cars and have done many cam belt that ahve failed prematurely. i dont work at adealer but a very well respected independent shop. most of the time when these belts go they only destroy valves. if you plan to keep the car i would have the cam belt checked periodecly when servicing is done.
