    O2 sensors??

My stepdaughter has a 2001 is300 with a check engine light on.  The reader code said "bank 1 sensor 2."  I've purchased a 4 wire replacement to be spliced to the old connector but I'm not sure which sensor is bank 1 sensor 2.  I just looked at the engine and there were two very obvious sensors, one on the exhaust manifold for the 3 cylinders toward the front of the car, and I can't remember exactly where the other one was.  I was looking to see if there was access to the one for the 3 cylinders toward the REAR of the car and I couldn't even see it.  Any help would be appreciated as she's going back to school and I'd like to save her the $$$ the dealer charges. Also, can I reset the check engine light by disconnecting the battery?  Thanks much,  Bob in Salem Oregon

    Re: O2 sensors??

Bank 1 is #1 Spark Plug and sensor 2 means Downstream sensor so :

Cylinder 1 ( usually R/S or cylinders facing Firewall ) Downstream Sensor

    Re: O2 sensors??

Bank 1 sensor 2 means: isthe #2 O2 sensor on bank 1 (firewall bank 1), which means is the post-cat O2 sensor (under the car underneath the driver seat).  More than likely you nee to completly take out the driver seat and possibly slide out/cut away the carpeting to get access to the O2 sensor harness.
