Son has a 2004 aveo. Last week check engine light came on and the car started to stall (while in motion). Check plugs/wire, found 2 that were arcing, changed all (thought this was the problem, but no).

Car runs better but still stalls.

I will be changing the fuel filter, but it really does not seem to be the problem as the car does start up again after a few turns of the key.

 

Any thoughts/ideas to help?

It may be time to have the electronic analyzer placed on the plug under the dash to see if that will locate any ignition faults.

Sounds like an intermittent problem we had with the ignition system on our Metro.

I have a 2006 Aveo that was doing the same thing.  I had it to the garage 4 times before they found out what was wrong with it.  The first time, they said it was the spark plugs, the 2nd time - the spark plug wires, the 3rd time - they replaced the exhaust valve.  This one seems to be a problem that they are finding with this little car.  None the less, it was worse after all of this and finally, they replace the coil unit and now it is fine.  I love this little car but I sure was starting to get upset with it.  I was ready to go out and buy another car.  I hope you get your problem fixed.  Have your mechanic check the coil pack first.  This seems to be a common thing with Chevrolets.

Thank you for the response, as it turns out it is the valves (stems and seats). Chevy is covering. Apparently this is a problem on some of the engines in the 2004
