GMC introduced the Savana in 1996 and the truck has seen very few changes since. The most recent major design update for the spacious workhorse improved interior space by moving the engine compartment forward. This caused less cabin intrusion from the engine’s “doghouse.” For heavy-duty applications, the Savana is available with GM’s powerful Duramax diesel engine under the hood. The GMC Savana comes with a five-year/100,000-mile powertrain and gets an estimated 19-20 mpg on the highway.
