Jeep Warranty

Jeep offers a relatively short bumper-to-bumper warranty when compared with other companies, but there are a few other warranties that are highly competitive in the industry. The power train warranty has gotten attention as one of the best available power train policies.

• The bumper-to-bumper warranty is good for three years or 36,000 miles. However, this limited warranty does have some major exclusions. The brakes, including the rotors, linings, drums and pads are covered for a shorter time period. The brakes, wiper blades, clutch disc and assembly, wheel alignment and balancing and the windshield and rear window are all covered for only 12 months or 12,000 miles.
• Any time a Jeep breaks down because of problems caused by parts under warranty, the towing to the closest Jeep dealer is covered. This coverage lasts three years or 36,000 miles.
• Jeep offers a rust warranty to protect the outer body panels that are made from sheet metal. If any of these metal panels are perforated due to rust, the repair or replacement of those panels is covered for five years or 100,000 miles. Any surface chips, surface rust spots or paint scratches are not covered under this warranty.
• The Federal Emission Warranty covers the vehicle for two years or 24,000 miles. This covers the vehicle against any problems that cause the emissions to go above federal guidelines. The California Emission Warranty is in effect for vehicle owners in California for three years or 50,000 miles.
• Perhaps the most competitive warranty offered by Jeep is the Lifetime Power train Warranty. This warranty covers the power train on Jeep models for the lifetime of the vehicle. There is no mileage limitation to this coverage.
• The power train warranty covers the entire cost of parts and any labor costs when the components of the power train are repaired or replaced. This includes components of the transmission, the engine and the drive system.
• To keep the power train coverage, there are required inspections. Every five years, the vehicle owner must take the Jeep to a Jeep, Chrysler or Dodge retailer for a power train inspection. There is no cost for this inspection. Each inspection must be made within a 60-day period of each fifth anniversary of the warranty’s beginning.
• The lifetime power train warranty does not transfer to any other owners of the vehicle, even if the new owners are family members of the original owner.
• Any towing needed in order to take a part under warranty in for repair or replacement is not covered, even if the problem has resulted in a break down of the vehicle.
• The power train warranty is only in effect in the U.S.
• Added Care Plus is an extended Jeep warranty that covers more than 800 components. This optional warranty extends the bumper-to-bumper warranty and is available with or without a deductible. It also includes a car rental allowance, roadside assistance and a $1,000 policy to cover interrupted travel plans.
• Another optional extended warranty, Maximum Care, covers more than 5,000 different components. It is available with or without a deductible and covered care rentals, roadside assistance and $100 towing as well as travel interruption coverage.
