2009 Nissan Armada

The 2009 Nissan Armada is the largest vehicle ever produced by the Japanese automaker. This plus-sized SUV offers seating for 8 passengers and features a very spacious interior that provides just under 100 cubic feet of total cargo room. Even fully grown adults will be comfortable in the third row of the Armada. The base SE model is equipped with dual climate controls, power seats, air conditioning for rear passengers and backup sensors. Upgrading to the LE introduces heated leather seats and steering wheel, a navigation system and a power liftgate. Other goodies such as a moonroof and a towing package can be added as options.

Even without the towing package the 2009 Nissan Armada is rated to pull 6,500 lbs thanks to the substantial 5.6 liter V8 under its hood. Capable of generating 317 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque, the peppy unit makes use of a 5-speed automatic transmission to handle the gear shifting duties. 2008 Pontiac G8

Pontiac’s newest sedan is also its most powerful in recent memory. The 2008 Pontiac G8 comes in both base and GT trim. The former is outfitted with a 256 horsepower, 3.6 liter V6 engine that also generates 248 lb-ft of torque, while the GT breathes fire through a 6.0 liter V8 that cranks out 361 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque. A 5-speed automatic is standard on the base model, while the GT features a 6-speed auto gearbox that features manual shift control. Both vehicles are rear-wheel drive, which adds a serious amount of sporting fun to their driving experience.

The interior of the full-size 2008 G8 is comfortable for 4 adults but can accommodate 5 in a pinch. All G8’s come with air conditioning, power seats, cruise control and a CD player. The GT throws in dual climate controls, an LCD display and a sport suspension. OnStar remote vehicle assistance is also included on both models, and a number of different options packages can help personalize the sedan.

2009 Toyota Tundra

The 2009 Toyota Tundra is a full-size pickup that offers one of the most technologically advanced drivetrains in the business. The entry-level Tundra provides a 4.7 liter V8 which is rated at 276 horsepower and 313 lb-ft of torque, while higher trims feature a 5.7 liter, 8-cylinder engine that produces 381 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque. The larger engine is also rated at 13 miles per gallon in the city and 17 on the highway, which is very efficient for a pickup in its class. A 5-speed automatic is yoked to the 4.7 liter engine, while the 5.7 liter makes use of a 6-speed auto. Four-wheel drive is an option on all 2009 Tundras.

Like most pickups, the 2009 Tundra can be ordered in one of several different body styles. A regular cab option is complemented by a Double Cab that features additional seating behind the first row and a CrewMax four-door option that gives the Tundra a passenger capacity similar to that of a mid-size sedan. 2008 Cadillac STS

The 2008 Cadillac STS is a full-size luxury sedan that offers a good combination of power, class and comfort. The STS is positioned as a large 4-door that is capable of providing an engaging driving experience despite its dimensions. The STS is powered by either a 302 horsepower, 3.6 liter V6 engine or a 4.6 liter Northstar V8 that generates 320 horsepower and 315 lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed automatic is the only available transmission, but the sedan can be ordered in either rear or all-wheel drive trim. Fuel economy for the rear-wheel drive STS comes in at 15 miles per gallon in city driving and 24 miles per gallon on the highway.

In addition to its attractive styling, the 2008 Cadillac STS is also packed with luxury gadgets and other options. Leather seats are standard, as is dual climate control and OnStar. Available are rain-sensing windshield wipers, Stabilitrak stability control, interior wood trim, a limited slip rear differential and a number of navigation and stereo upgrades. A glass sunroof and special leather are also on the options list, and all-wheel drive buyers can choose to outfit their car with active steering.

2009 Lincoln MKZ

The 2009 Lincoln MKZ is the Detroit-based luxury car company’s answer to the entry-level Acura sedans which have carved out such a niche in the market. The MKZ is wrapped in angular styling that makes for striking body work and a distinctive profile. There is a single trim level for the MKZ, and this includes comfortable heated and cooled leather seats, cruise control, a full range of power equipment and backup assistance. The Microsoft Sync entertainment and communications system is also standard equipment. A moonroof, voice-controlled navigation system and HID lights round out the available options.

The 2009 MKZ can be ordered in either front or all-wheel drive, and each drivetrain makes use of the same 6-speed automatic transmission. Power is provided by a 3.5 liter V6 that puts out 263 horsepower and 249 lb-ft of torque. The MKZ is not a sport sedan, but it does hold its own on the highway. Fuel mileage is rated at 18 miles per gallon in stop and go traffic and 24 miles per gallon in freeway cruising for the front-wheel drive edition.
