Ford RaptorFord has come a long way since Henry Ford’s idea of car color choices was black or black. With cars becoming more statements of “individualism” with buyers, extra thought has gone into both interior and exterior design and amenities.

If you are in the market for a vehicle in the near future, your choice of colors will become more plentiful as automakers are listening to consumers and taking their request for more color choices to heart.

Mainstream fashion magazines and website are showing more vibrant bright colors in both clothing and consumer products such as computers and appliances. Ford has been taking note of this trend, as many of its customers are also asking for brighter colors.

Two of Fords new popular colors are “Grabber Blue” for the 2010 Ford Mustang and the make sure your're wearing your sunglasses “Molten Orange” for its Ford F-150 SVT Raptor (pictured). As a matter of fact, a somewhat amazing 39% of customers purchasing the SVT Raptor choose the Molten Orange motif.

When the much anticipated 2011 Ford Fiesta goes on sale next summer, buyers can choose from an array of new bright colors including Bright Magenta and Lime Squeeze. Ford has put extensive resources in Europe into finding what trends the color palette is producing for new Fiesta buyers. Research has shown that in Europe at least, color choice is now firmly seated in one of the top 10 reasons consumers select a new car.

And if you think that car buyers in China tow the party line by dressing like Mao and driving bland vehicles think again. In a country where the Fiesta is picking up popularity, 28 percent of buyers are choosing Passion Orange as their color of choice.

So if you are into eclectic color patterns, take heart. In the next few years more and more models will feature new and vibrant paint schemes.
