2010 Nissan 370ZThis Thursday (October 22) marks a special day for any automotive enthusiast. Back in 1969, Nissan Motor Company launched a sporty little coupe under the Datsun nameplate and called it the Z. Since its introduction, the Nissan Z has seen six generations of designs, so to celebrate the four decades of the car Nissan will offer a special package on the 2010 370Z. The classic lines of the 1970 Nissan 240Z live on today in the current model, but the limited edition package will be yet another way for Z car fans to pay homage to the legend.

Seeing as how the latest Z is already an excellent performance vehicle, all of the additions to the 40th Anniversary Edition package are aimed to highlight the car’s unique design. In marking the ruby anniversary, the 2010 Nissan 370Z will add exclusive red leather to the cabin on the seats and door panel inserts as well as red brake calipers to contrast the smoked 19-inch forged aluminum-alloy wheels. Red stitching will accent the center stack, steering wheel, shift boot and kneepads to give the interior a unique look, while the embroidered seatbacks and floor mats further distinguish the package.

Offsetting the smoked wheels and the red accents, the 40th anniversary 370Z comes in an exclusive dark silver color that Nissan calls 40th Quartz. As is the case with any special edition car, this 370Z also gets unique badging on the rear hatch as well as the front strut tower brace under the hood. To protect what is sure to be a future collector’s car, the package also includes a satin car cover.

The 2010 Nissan 370Z 40th Anniversary Edition will be available in the spring of 2010 although pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but it appears that the anniversary edition will only be available on coupe models equipped with the Sport Package which automatically adds $3,000 to the base price – almost the full price ($3,626) that the original 240Z cost back in its first year.
