When Chevrolet introduced the S10 in 1982, the compact pickup market was relatively small. Due to the Dodge Dakota, by the 1990s most compact pickup trucks were always at a disadvantage when it came to size, comfort and performance. The introduction of the Colorado in 2004 looked to change that for Chevrolet with a larger, more aggressively styled truck than its predecessor. While others in the class feature traditional V6 engines, the Colorado uses an inline five-cylinder engine and is tough competition for the rest of the pack in both horsepower and torque. The Chevrolet Colorado comes with a five-year/100,000-mile powertrain and gets an estimated 20-24 mpg on the highway.
