New for 2009, the Traverse is a full-size crossover that replaces the Uplander minivan in Chevrolet’s lineup. The Traverse features sharp, chiseled lines that incorporate design cues from other popular Chevy cars from the Malibu’s grille to the taillights similar to the all-new Camaro. As crossovers grow in popularity due to rising fuel costs and consumers shifting away from minivans, the Traverse provides Chevrolet with a true player in the fullsize crossover market. Available with either front- or all-wheel drive, the Traverse shares its platform with the Buick Enclave, and it should see similar success as Buick’s crossover. The Chevrolet Traverse comes with a five-year/100,000-mile powertrain and gets an estimated 23-24 mpg on the highway.
