2009 Nissan Versa MPG

The 2009 Nissan Versa is a four-door five- passenger family sedan or hatchback. The hatchback comes in two trims – 1.8 S and 1.8 SL, whereas the sedan comes in four trims – 1.6 Base, 1.6, 1.8 S, and the 1.8 SL.

For the hatchback model, there is only one engine available - a 1.8L four-cylinder engine that produces 122 hp. A six-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, but a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive available. Introductory fuel economy comes in at 26 miles per gallon in the city and 31 miles per gallon when driving on the highway for a combined rating of 28 miles per gallon. When configured with the four-speed automatic transmission, the fuel economy changes to 24 miles per gallon in the city and 32 miles per gallon on the highway.

The second trim, the 1.8 SL, comes with the same 1.8L inline-four engine but is standard with a continuously variable transmission. This configuration offers a fuel economy rating of 27 miles per gallon in the city and 33 miles per gallon when driving on the highway for a combined rating of 29 miles per gallon.

The lower two trims come with a 1.6L inline-four engine that produces 107 horsepower (15 less than the 1.8L). This smaller engine comes standard with a five-speed manual transmission with overdrive. This engine and transmission configuration comes with a fuel economy estimated rating of 26 miles per gallon in the city and 34 miles per gallon when driving on the highway. When paired to the automatic transmission the fuel economy changes to 26 and 33 miles per gallon.

When we go up to the 1.8 S trim, we move up to the 1.8L engine. This trim level offers the six-speed manual transmission as standard with the four-speed automatic transmission as an option. The fuel economy comes in at 24 miles per gallon in the city and 32 miles per gallon when driving on the highway for a combined rating again of 29 miles per gallon. When paired to the six-speed manual transmission the fuel economy rating changes to 26 miles per gallon in the city and 31 miles per gallon on the highway.

At the top of the trim levels is the 1.8 SL. This vehicle offers the same 1.8L inline-four engine that produces 122 hp and comes paired to the four-speed automatic transmission as a standard configuration. This gives the vehicle a fuel economy rating of 24 miles per gallon in the city and 32 miles per gallon when driving on the highway for a combined rating of 28 miles per gallon.
