Chevrolet has been building pickup trucks longer than most of its competitors have been in existence. While the Silverado name started in 1975 as a trim package on the C/K pickups, it didn’t become the official name until a full redesign in 1999. Redesigned in 2007, the Silverado got a more aggressive and aerodynamic look and continues to provide enough power to haul just about anything with either the half-ton model or the Silverado HD. With an all-new two-mode hybrid thrown into the mix, the Silverado looks to take the best-selling crown away from its blue-oval competitor. The Chevrolet Silverado comes with a five-year/100,000-mile powertrain and gets an estimated 17-20 mpg on the highway.
