Overview: |
|
The 2008 Torrent enters its third year as Pontiac's mid-size crossover entrant, and it is now the division's only vehicle that can be ordered with all-wheel drive.
The base Torrent is powered by a 3.4L V6 that produces 185 horsepower and is paired with a five-speed automatic,. The Torrent can carry up to 68.6 cubic feet of cargo with the rear seats folded, and it will also tow up to 3,500 pounds. Versatility is enhanced by the rear seats' ability to recline and slide forward and backward, allowing five passengers to be comfortably transported.
Standard equipment on the base Torrent includes a luggage rack, fog lamps, power mirrors, a comprehensive driver information center, power locks with remote keyless entry, power windows, an alarm system and air conditioning.
Standard equipment on the GXP includes deep tinted glass, heated front sport bucket seats, seven cup holders, front and rear floor mats, leather wrapped steering wheel with mounted audio controls and a remote vehicle starter system.
Safety is bolstered by standard traction control, StabiliTrak, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, daytime running lamps and one year of OnStar. Optional seat-mounted and side curtain air bags can be added.
All levels of audio systems are covered in the Torrent. The standard CD player includes an auxiliary input jack for portable digital music players, while an upgraded CD player can handle MP3 files and XM satellite radio can be added for $200. A six-disc CD changer is optional, as is a DVD entertainment system, a navigation system and a 260-watt seven-speaker system with an amplifier and a subwoofer. |
