CHANGE PACKAGE:
Mercury Grand Marquis Review
By Autotropolis Editors

Strengths:
Durable, classic design; enormous trunk; comfortably seats six.

Changes:
The Grand Marquis has remained largely unchanged since 1992. For 2008, Mercury added a standard tire pressure monitoring system on the GS and LS. In addition, outside temperature display is now standard on the LS. New optional equipment for the GS includes a Comfort Appearance Package that includes leather trim seats, a power driver seat and 16-inch painted aluminum wheels. For 2008 the GS also has an optional Confidence Package with heated mirrors, fog lamps, and traction control. The LS now offers the Travel Package with CD and cassette player and conventional spare tire as optional.

Value:
The 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis continues to feature a sturdy body-on-frame setup, a design that has proven itself for many years. It provides lots of comfortable passenger space, with room for six people, plus an enormous trunk.

Overview:
The Mercury Grand Marquis provides a durable and comfortable platform for roomy and smooth cruising. For the 2008 model, Mercury keeps the important aspects of the vehicle the same: large trunk, plenty of legroom, and a workhorse 224-horsepower 4.6L V8 engine. The base Grand Marquis GS comes with a split bench seat up front, the driver side being power adjustable. Anti-lock brakes are standard equipment as is a tilt-adjustable steering wheel, power windows and locks, cruise control, and remote keyless entry. The LS, starting at $2,890 more than the standard trim, includes traction control, 16-spoke aluminum wheels, fog lamps, and heated power mirrors. Interior add-ons include power leather seats and automatic climate control. Optional equipment on the GS includes traction control, fog lamps, and an alarm system. The LS is more configurable than the GS Grand Marquis. The Palm Beach Edition package includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated power mirrors, cashmere leather seats and chrome wheels. A power moonroof is available as a $1,025 option. Heated front seats and a six-disc CD changer can be added as well.
