Honda decided to enter the midsize SUV market in 2003 with the Pilot. The Pilot is larger than any other SUVs offered by Honda, and it replaced Isuzu-based Passport. Unlike the Passport, the Pilot offers third-row seating and a more refined ride. With a new design for 2009, the Pilot retains its spacious, boxy interior dimensions, while adding more comfort and convenience. All Pilots come equipped with a 250-horsepower V-6 with Variable Cylinder Management, which deactivates cylinders under certain driving conditions to improve fuel economy. The Honda Pilot comes with a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty and gets an estimated 23 mpg on the highway.
