Overview: |
|
The 2008 GMC Savana passenger van embodies versatility in family transport, with three different GVWRs available (1500, 2500, or 3500 versions), two wheelbases (135 inches or 155 inches), two drivetrains (front- or all-wheel drive), and three seating configurations (8-passenger, 12-passenger, and 15-passenger).
The 1500 is powered by GM's 5.3L GEN-IV Vortec V8 gas engine, and a flex-fuel variant is optional. On the 2500 and 3500, the standard 323-horsepower 6.0 V8 is standard; it enables the 3500 to two up to 9,800 pounds. Regardless of the engine, a four-speed automatic transmission is standard.
For 2008 the Savana passenger van's interior has been updated with a new steering wheel, an expanded driver information center, and revised audio systems.
The Savana is modestly equipped to maintain its aggressive pricing, though standard air conditioning is a nice touch. An available LT Preferred Equipment Group bundles popular options like rear air conditioning, power windows and locks, cruise control, remote keyless entry, and upgraded upholstery. Other standouts from the options list include a six-disc CD changer and 60/40-split driver's door arrangement (with the 135-inch wheelbase).
Eight-passenger seating, with three rows and front bucket seats, is standard with the shorter wheelbase while the longer-wheelbase 3500 version comes with twelve-passenger seating. The extended wheelbase Savana can also be configured to seat as many as 15 people.
The all-wheel drive version is only available as a 1500, and the extended wheelbase can only be ordered with a Savana 3500. StabiliTrak is standard on all of the Savana passenger vans. |
